FYI: There are no street closures planned for the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood during the Grand Opening weekend, but organizers are expecting large crowds to flock to the museum during the celebration: as many as 10,000 per day.
Brent R. Benjamin, Director of the St. Louis Art Museum, has invited the public to the opening of the new East Building.
Come explore the World of Art, an outdoor celebration of the expansion with hands-on art projects and performances scheduled throughout the day by a variety of local cultural organizations and arts groups, as well as food booths on Fine Arts Drive and in the east parking lot.
Saturday, June 29

10:00am – 6:00pm: World of Art Outdoor Activities
7:00pm – 10:00pm: Opening-Night Celebration
Sunday, June 30

The weekend’s events take place throughout the Museum’s campus, from the East Parking Lot to Art Hill Plaza and on Fine Arts Drive. Be sure to check slam.org for a full schedule and up-to-date parking information.
The entire museum will be closed June 17-28 for final preparations for the Grand Opening Celebration on June 29-30.
