August 6, 6:00PM – 9:00PM
[Greg Freeman Park at Four Corners, Kingsbury Ave. & Des Peres Ave.]
Come join us for the best National Night Out 2013 party in the area! An incredible nationally touring marimba ensemble will join us from Santa Fe, NM. Their music is happy, high-energy fun for the whole family that draws from the ancient rhythms and melodies of southern Africa. Take a listen for yourself on their website!
Delicious treats: Come hungry because Skinker DeBaliviere’s Famous BBQ will be available for sale along with delicious Hawaiian Shaved Ice by Cool Delights, chips and drinks! The BBQ is lovingly prepared and served by volunteers, and proceeds from food and drink sales go toward helping us pay the musicians’ fees.
Debut of “The DeBaliviere Skink” & a free art activity for kids (6-7pm): Tim Woodcock – organizer of this year’s Youth Recycled Art Workshop in which neighborhood children built a large-scale skink out of colorful plastic bags – will host an art activity for kids to doodle and place their handprints on the signage that will be placed on the skink’s new home, a kiosk in Greg Freeman Park.
Airbrush Face Painting: St. Louis area artist Michelle Ries will be on-hand all evening to paint unique works of body art of varying styles and sizes. (Fee will be $3-10 depending on what you choose.)
Safety Booth: Brian Kolde, one of our two Neighborhood Stabilization Officers, will be at the concert to provide information about safe neighborhoods. A limited number of “The Club” automotive steering wheel locks and Kryptonite U-shaped bike locks will be available for purchase.
Special Visitors: We also expect some special visitors to drop in throughout the night!
All Skinker DeBaliviere residents and visitors from around the St. Louis area are invited and encouraged to join us. Bring a friend or the whole family!
As a community concert series, this annual tradition is possible due to the many volunteers who donate an hour or two during the event. If you can help out for a little while at one of the concerts, you will help ensure that these concerts can continue to happen! Please contact Liz at firstname.lastname@example.org or (314) 862-5122 if you’d like more info. Thank you!
