This year, the 2nd annual State Fair will be held during Rock The Block! Let’s celebrate what we have grown, raised, and made within the Skinker
DeBaliviere neighborhood. There will be fun activities for kids, informative lectures and exciting contests for all to enjoy!
Submit Your Entries
All summer long, you work hard growing healthy plants and hearty animals, and in those months when you’re not weeding, watering, or feeding, you can show off your home-making skills by building a birdhouse, crocheting a quilt, or mastering your pickle-making. Now you have the opportunity to celebrate what you have grown, raised, and made!
Bring your items to the SDCC Office, 6008 Kingsbury on the day before (Friday 6pm-8pm) and to Joe’s Cafe & Gallery, 6014 Kingsbury Ave on event day (Saturday 11am-1pm). Please register livestock on event day only. For judging criteria, more information on categories and entry form, please refer to the document below (Now accepting Junior Entries!):
**Please note that preserves are not judged by taste…for safety reasons. The judging will based on appearance, not on taste.

Friday, September 12
- 6pm-8pm: Accept entries (except for livestock)
Saturday, September 13
- 11am-1pm: Accept entries (including livestock)
- Noon-4pm: Kids Midway Games
- 12:30pm: Lecture in Joe’s Cafe – Preserving foods
- Lecturer, Linda Rellergert, Missouri Extension
- 1pm-4pm: Conduct Judging and Award Ribbons
- 2:30pm: Lecture in Joe’s Cafe – Fermenting Probiotic Beverages

- 4pm-5pm: All entries must be retrieved or they will be discarded
Free Public Lectures
While the judges are doing their work, we invite you to come enjoy looking at the marvelous exhibition of items and attending free lectures on such diverse topics as fermenting and canning fruits & vegetables.
Preserving | Presenter: Linda Rellergert, University of MO Extension
12:30am at Joe’s Cafe & Gallery, 6014 Kingsbury Ave.
Class Summary: Learn how to safely preserve fresh produce using the latest and safest techniques. The talk will include an overview of canning, freezing, and dehydrating, as well as information on where to find more recipes and further instruction.
Fermenting | Presenter: Angie Meara
2:30am at Joe’s Cafe & Gallery, 6014 Kingsbury Ave.
Class Summary: Angie Meara will do a partial demonstration of the process of fermenting probiotic beverages and offer samplings of kombucha, kefir soda, ginger beer and root beer. She will also bring fermented pickles and speak about fermenting okra, cabbage, carrots and more.
