We are excited to start the sign up period for the 2014 season. We really appreciate that so many of you took the time to provide your feedback to our end of year survey – we received lots of great input. We spent a lot of time analyzing the feedback from the survey as well as all of the comments we received from you throughout the year and utilized that input to make improvements to the CSA for this year.
One significant change for 2014 is that we will be moving to a single share size. The Lee Farms CSA share will be packed in the same size boxes as last year’s Half Shares and will contain 6 to 10 items and weigh approximately 7 to 10 pounds. The weight of the box will fluctuate across the season as a box containing the early season lettuces and greens will not weigh the same as a box containing potatoes and melons or winter squash and pumpkins. The cost for the 2014 CSA share is $495, which includes all applicable sales taxes. Families who want additional produce and purchase multiple shares will receive a 10% discount.
Our hope is that moving to a single share size this will simplify things and reduce mistakes and confusion both here at the farm and at your pick up location. The boxes will all be the same and members just take the appropriate number of boxes and cartons of eggs. If you purchase one share, take one box, one carton of eggs, one melon, one pumpkin, etc. If you purchase two shares for a larger family, you take two of everything and you will receive double the amount of all items in the share boxes.
For 2014 we are also instituting a “Vacation Box”. You will have one week throughout the 20 week season to notify us in advance (by a certain deadline each week) that your family will be “on vacation” that week and will not be picking up your box. We would then make a delivery on Week 21 just for the people who indicated that they were not picking up their box one week throughout the season, so CSA members are better able to enjoy a full 20 weeks of produce.
As always, the start of the 20 week season will be dependent upon the weather, but we are planning for the first delivery to occur in early June. We will again be offering the popular farm tour in 2014 so you have the opportunity to see first-hand how and where your food is grown and experience some fun on the farm! We take pride in the fact that everything you receive in your Lee Farms CSA share box is grown by us right here on our farm in Truxton!
We are now accepting sign-ups for both returning and new members, so feel free to pass along information about the CSA to any friends or neighbors that might be interested. The sign-up period will remain open until we reach capacity. To reserve your spot in the 2014 Lee Farms CSA, please send in your registration form (to make sure that we have your contact information correct) along with 50 percent of your share price. The remaining 50 percent balance will be due by June 30th.
Thanks again for your support of local food and Lee Farms! If you have any questions about the 2014 CSA, please don’t hesitate to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Rusty on his cell at 314/954-0551.
We are looking forward to growing food for your family again this year!
