Pilot Program Details

This program matchs graduate students seeking off-campus housing with homeowners who are older adults (65 years of age or older). *
WashU graduate students pay monthly rate to live with older adult homeowner.

* In some cases, adults “as young as 60” may be eligible to participate as well.

Applications can be emailed, mailed or hand delivered to 6008 Kingsbury Avenue.

Homeowner in Skinker DeBaliviere, University City, Central West End or Clayton and live within 10-15 min driving of Washington University. Other areas may be accepted, on a case-by-case basis.
Earn $4,000-6,000 a year to be used for general household expenses, property taxes, home owner insurance and/or home maintenance.
- In addition, they may gain companionship or the increased safety that comes with having a “homemate”. Homeowner can be single or a couple.
May exchange household chores, errand running and social interaction for lower rent payments. (Optional)

Graduate student at Washington University of St. Louis
Save 30-50% on off-campus housing costs, depending on their match agreement, by living with older homeowners.
- In addition, they may gain companionship of an older adult or the increased support that comes with living with a St. Louis homeowner.
May exchange household chores, errand running and social interaction for lower rent payments. (Optional)
